What Crunch Customers have to say - Crunch offer "Unlimited Expert Advice & Service"
A recent incident revealed a serious lapse in data security by E-Crunch Limited "Crunch". Sensitive
personal data was exposed due to negligent customer service, leading to potential risks of identity
theft, financial fraud and physical risk for their client.
When the issue was raised, the response from Crunch was profoundly disappointing. Instead of
addressing the breach with the seriousness it deserved, they attempted to justify their negligence
by citing a clause hidden deep within their terms and conditions. This approach shows a blatant
disregard for client confidentiality and security, prioritising legal cover over client welfare.
Rather than help, their ICO publicly listed Data Protection Officer (DPO) decided
to turn
nasty and engage in corporate gaslighting.

We were doxxed by Crunch Accounting.
TrustPilot - Jan 12, 2024 (Cee W)
Yep, we got doxxed by Crunch. We were customers of Crunch for approximately 9 months and across the
entire 9 months we were met with complete neglect. After months of frustration and confusion, we
chose to move to another accounting service and they swiftly (the only swift thing they did),
changed our business address to one of our director's personal addresses, and here's the rub, we
found out by chance when going through company house filing information.
We were completely shocked, and when we contacted them about it, you know what they said? They said,
that they sent an email asking us which address we wanted it changed to. So I check, and they did,
they sent it on a Friday. You know when the our address was changed? The Monday. They didn't even
give us 1 business day to respond before they opted to Dox their customer. For some reason, their
precious digital address product (WHICH WE PAID A PREMIUM FOR), couldn't hold on for a weekend.
It's actually despicable. I'm so so upset and we have no idea how to fix it. What we do know, is
that Crunch have put us in harm's way by publicly sharing information that we didn't consent to them
sharing. They clearly don't care about your private information, so if I was you, I'd think twice.
I'm considering legal action.
Bad all around
TrustPilot - June 03, 2024 (Radu A)
We decided to leave Crunch as a different organisation was offering us half price for the same
services. They have now taken more than a month to reply to an email requesting the accounts data to
be sent to the new company.
Moreover, they are now late with our end of year and not replying to emails.
Generally a rubbish experience, we had issues with them taking a long time to reply before, reading
just the first line in emails, but it is just a really bad experience
Shocking quality of service - Crunch Accounting review
TrustPilot - 1 May, 2024 (Sonja K)
The quality of service has been drastically declining over the last year. I pay over £100 every month
and it takes multiple emails to support to get help.
My financial year ended in November and my years end accounts have still not been completed.
Support doesn't read the emails you send in and just answer some general text.
The bank reconcile seems to break every month too.
They raised their fee every year and the service is shockingly poor quality now
Edit: no response to my 7 emails about the quality of service and all of a sudden a review is
online, i get a reply. Poor practise - clearly just interested in the public perspective
Declining quality of service - Crunch Accounting review
TrustPilot - 12 April, 2024 (Eduard)
It was once a great service, but it has since declined. My year-end accounts have been in production
for five months already. Each time I contact Crunch for an update, I'm assured that someone will
reach out by the end of the workday, yet no one does. Even when I follow up with an email, I'm
fortunate if I receive a templated response indicating that it is in progress. This level of service
falls short of expectations for the premium package.

Long time customer finally given up - Crunch Accounting review
TrustPilot - 17 April, 2024 (Stuart)
Have been a Crunch customer for a number of years, but after the first year service has steadily
declined to the point that I've taken the decision to move to a new accountant. Problems with their
open banking feed reported over two years ago still have not been fixed. Their recent portal updates
removed useful summary information in favour of self promotion/advertising, and their above
inflation greedy cash grabs mean I couldn't recommend this service to anyone. Their only response to
complaint is to throw around limited discounts, but they never fulfil any promises to improve or fix
issues. I need an accountant that I can trust to do what they say they will do. Thinks very
carefully before trusting your business to these people.

This is not an accounting company it is…
This is not an accounting company it is a piece of software and some customer service representatives
on the end of the phone. They care about charging as much money as they can and care little for
their customers.
Dreadful business - Crunch Accounting review
TrustPilot - 29 April, 2024 (Mike)
Dreadful business, who charge a premium price, but then sit back and offer no assistance. If you are
looking to close down your business they will string you along and drag heels for as long as
possible to keep charging you. Do not use this company, and instead find someone local and
accessable.
Awful Accountants - Crunch Accounting review
TrustPilot - 29 April, 2024 (Mike)
The service is terrible. I put a review on here in December, since then my account has been '
prioritised' passed through several accountants with different opinions. Its as if they are trying
to
make their service as slow and painful as possible. They have also charged me to correct mistakes
they
made in previous years accounts. Avoid them at all costs, once you sign up they focus on taking fees
from you, whilst the service gets worse and worse.
£500 of fines were levied on me by HMRC… - Crunch Accounting review
TrustPilot - 7th December, 2024 (Frustrated)
£500 of fines were levied on me by HMRC and Companies house because Crunch set my account up wrongly,
so I couldn't complete my tax return information. They deny everything and move on.
I have no idea if my company tax return will be completed on time this year, they put your accounts
on hold without telling you, any request to find out if the accounts will be ready on time gets a
reply saying pay a premium if you want that.
Crunch accounting are often incompetent and it is set up to add more and more hidden fees, that you
wont see until you ask a basic question.
Avoid them unless you have deep pockets, and enjoy high levels of stress.
The service is getting worse and worse. I used to get answers to my emails within a few hours, now it
takes a few days for them to answer basic questions. They started charging more and more each month
for Free agent since they launched their own platform. And it's a nightmare, nothing is
user-friendly in there and they don't help with it by sending you read "detailed" guide.

Glassdoor reviews of Crunch Accounting from Employees
"The staff retention at Crunch is poor. Honestly though, poor is an understatement."
Pros
The first year working at Crunch is a breeze. It may be challenging at first but once you conquer
the processes, there is nothing you can't handle in terms of work.
The first year working at Crunch is a breeze. It may be challenging at first but once you conquer the
processes, there is nothing you can't handle in terms of work.
The workload is easy and not really challenging for an accountant anyway. The most challenging task
is dealing with other peoples problems/major mistakes that have been made in the past.
Cons
The employees at Crunch are all fairly new to the accounting world. Unfortunately, there aren't many
experienced accountants there at all. So for a trainee or apprentice accountant taking their first
step into the world of accounting, it can be pretty tough at Crunch. Especially with all of the
conflicting advice that is given out by the members of staff.
The conflicting advice is due to the fact Crunch do not have any processes in place for training.
They do not support their employees on any technical training days and they employ a 'Technical
accountant' whose job is to keep the accountants up to date with updates in the accounting world.
That doesn't happen and mass confusion is caused. The only training the accountants are provided
with is their professional qualification, mostly AAT or ACCA.
The staff retention at Crunch is poor. Honestly though, poor is an understatement. This is caused by
low salaries, confusion within the workplace & management that doesn't listen to the staff.
During my time there, the staff at Crunch were asked to vote on a decision that was to be made in
relation to their working hours. By unanimous decision, it was voted against. Later in the year, the
item we were voting on was enforced within the workplace.
Career progression for accountants is almost non-existent. As an accountant, your only goal is to
become a 'Senior Accountant', that's pretty much as far as you can get before it's time to move on.
The standard of work at Crunch isn't of that of a more traditional accounting firm. Making the
switch from Crunch to other accounting firms has been a lot harder than anticipated. There are so
many vital accounting technicalities that I did not learn during my time at Crunch.
Advice to Management
1. Listen to the employees, they're the foundations of the business and need to be looked after.
2. Look into giving depth to your pay scales. The average accountants salary at Crunch is below the
market's average.
3. Implement correct accounting procedures & training for members of staff.
"Worst place ever"
Client Manager - Nov 2022
Pros
Some of the people are nice
Cons
Narcissistic CEO, Micromanaging Senior Team Staff who've been there years who are clearly just
moving up through ranks as have been there forever, clearly unable to do anything. Work is tedious,
pay is awful, it's chaotic, blame culture and clients leaving in droves. As are staff!
